Galleria Borghese is an impressive art collection, considered unique in the world, housed in the Villa Borghese, a beautiful and elegant mansion. It is one of the most renowned art museums in the world. The Borghese Gallery exhibits very important works by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Antonio Canova, Caravaggio, Raphael, Perugino and more. The entire facade of the villa is embellished with numerous bas-reliefs and busts. The building has numerous windows, to give the necessary light for a good view of the works and also the distribution of the rooms is organized according to the same logic. The building’s gardens are also a popular attraction in Rome. It is the third-largest public park in Rome after the ones of the Villa Doria Pamphili and Villa Ada. The gardens were developed for the Villa Borghese Pinciana, built by the architect Flaminio Ponzio, developing sketches by Scipione Borghese, who used it as a Suburban villa, a party villa, at the edge of Rome, and to house his art collection. Originally, the park had a traditional, geometric shape, but was turned into an English garden, imitating the natural landscape. An artificial lake with an island was also created along with broad alleys, now shadowed by secular trees. The vegetation is very diverse, including pines and magnolias. From one side of the Pincian Hill, it has an above look over Piazza del Popolo.

This small-group walking tour allows you to discover the masterpieces and the stories behind this great art collection, led by a professional licensed guide.
