Taking a break from the chaos of the city is always a good idea so, we will give you the chance to go on a trip to the Roman Castles. This area, located 35km from Rome, is a series of small villages on the hills surrounded by nature. There’s nothing more relaxing!

Our first stop is Nemi, where you can see the beautiful Nemi lake. Nemi is one of the most beautiful villages you can visit during a short excursion. The small town of Nemi is also renamed with the appellative of the strawberry village. One of the main attractions is Palazzo Ruspoli, whose built dates back to the Middle Ages. In the small square of the village, there is the most important religious building, the Church of Santa Maria del Pozzo, built in the Middle Ages (around the sixteenth century), too. If you love religious monuments, at the entrance of Nemi you can find the beautiful Sanctuary of the Santissimo Crocifisso.

Our next stop is Ariccia, a well-known and popular city in the area of the Roman castles. Its popularity is due to the high flow of tourists who visit the Chigiano complex every year along with the works of Bernini and other religious monuments. Its cuisine is very similar to the Roman one, but the most famous culinary product of the castles is Porchetta, served together with other products and accompanied by a nice glass of white wine, typical of the wine production areas of the castles. Along the roads between one village and another, it is possible to observe their customs and traditions, encountering famous kiosks of the Roman Porchetta or of Ariccia.

Continuing with our itinerary we will pass through Marino, a village known for its white wine and its grape festival (October). Following our tour, we will visit Castel Gandolfo where the Summer residence of the Pope is located. Around the residence there are other prestigious residences and villas, built for the nobles and rich families who have chosen this place to enjoy their holidays with a view of the lake and in absolute tranquility. The historic center is visited by tourists from all over the world, from the main square to its internal streets, full of restaurants, hotels and traditional shops with a splendid view of Lake Albano, known as Lake Castel Gandolfo.  This beautiful city is considered among the most beautiful villages in Italy and it has an excellent cuisine and a good production of wines.

Together with your licensed tour guide, you will discover the beauty of these interesting places close to the city of Rome.

The tour includes wine and food tasting (local products), so be ready to discover real roman gastronomy.
