Rome is an amazing travel destination that has a lot to offer. If you’ve never been to Rome and you have it on your bucket list or if you’re simply wondering where to stay in the Eternal City, we will help you out with our best recommendations!
1.Piazza Navona and the Historical Center for first-time visitors
One of the best places to stay in Rome is near Piazza Navona. It is a great choice if you want to be right in the heart of the historic center and you’ll be able to explore all the major attractions on foot. With iconic monuments everywhere, you will feel the atmosphere of the city and understand why Rome is the capital of Italy.
There are a few downsides, however. Staying in the heart of Rome can be a bit pricey. But with such views and atmosphere, you’ll definitely enjoy staying right in the center of the city!
Here are some of our hotel recommendations in Central Rome:
Rocco Forte Hotel De La Ville
Antica Dimora Delle Cinque Lune
Prati is an art nouveau district just a few steps away from the marvellous Vatican City. It is also one of the most elegant neighbourhoods in Rome, with wide boulevards that come to life at night, full of gourmet restaurants, stylish bars and shopping areas. Prati is ideal for families, away from the hustle and bustle of Rome’s crowded streets.
Best hotels in Prati:
Hotel Relais Dei Papi
Best Western Plus Hotel Spring House
Twenty One Hotel
Monti is a cool neighbourhood and is one of our favourite districts in Rome. The Monti area in Rome is centrally located between Piazza Venezia and the Colosseum and it is often called one of Rome’s most authentic neighbourhoods.
Monti is the best place to stay in Rome for history buffs. It is full of treasures and gems that date back to ancient time and of course, it is well-known for the emblematic Colosseum.
Our recommendations for Monti district:
DoubleTree by Hilton Rome Monti
Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo
Monti Palace Hotel
The soul of Rome is hidden in its old neighbourhoods like Trastevere. Trastevere is the most typical and authentic district of Rome, known for traditional trattorias, artisan shops, colourful buildings dripping with ivy and of course, the best pizza in the city.
The only reason not to stay in Trastevere would probably be that it is not that well-connected to the public transport. However, if you don’t mind walking, that won’t be a problem for you.
The best hotels in Trastevere are:
Donna Camilla Savelli
Unahotels Trastevere Roma
Loly Boutique Hotel
Hotel San Francesco
Hotel Santa Maria
5.Esquilino / Termini Station
Esquilino is a very convenient area to stay in Rome, with a lot of public transport options. You can easily reach the city center or take the train if you want to visit another city. A downside of this area is that it’s not the cleanest district of Rome, but you can find some great deals here.
Here are some choices we’ve picked out near Termini:
The St.Regis Rome
Mecenate Palace Hotel
