Visit with us the unique Eternal City! Discover some of the most amazing churches in the city, with a professional licensed guide. Admire the important creations of the famous Italian artists and learn about the culture, architecture and history behind them.

Your tour will start with the impressive Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli, built in the fifth century to house Saint Peter’s chains when he was imprisoned in Jerusalem.

Next, you will explore one of the most famous churches in Rome, Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore. It is the largest church dedicated to Mary in Rome, and it is one of the four papal basilicas in Rome. The Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore was built on the site where the Virgin Mary appeared in a dream of pope Liberius. This is also where a blanket of snow appeared on the hill on 5 August in the middle of Summer. This day is commemorated every year with white flower petals that are dropped from the ceiling.

Continuing with the tour, you will go to the basilica of Santa Pudenziana, a 4th-century church in Rome, dedicated to Saint Pudentiana, sister of Saint Praxedis and daughter of Saint Pudens. It has been suggested that there was no such person as Pudentiana, the name having originated as an adjective used to describe the house of Pudens, Domus Pudentiana.

Last on our itinerary, you will explore Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano. For a thousand years this monumental cathedral was the most important church in Christendom. Commissioned by the emperor Constantine and consecrated in AD 324, it was the first Christian basilica built in Rome and, until the late 14th century, was the pope’s main place of worship. It’s still Rome’s official cathedral and the pope’s seat as the bishop of Rome. The basilica has been revamped several times, most notably by Borromini in the 17th century, and by Alessandro Galilei, who added the immense white facade in 1735.

Our walking tour will present you everything you need to know about the Roman churches, so be ready to discover!
