This special guided tour is designed for those who want to enjoy a different Rome, far from the most touristic places, but still full of wonders, moving between sites in a comfortable and eco-friendly golf-cart. In a small group of only 6 or less people, your experience in Rome will be intimate and relaxed.
First, you will admire the Colosseum and discover Roman history with your expert guide. We will then explore the Appian Way, a road that keeps a historical, archaeological, and architectural heritage unique in the world. Walking among these 2300 years old extraordinary testimonies is an unforgettable experience to try at least once in a lifetime.
Continuing with our tour, we will visit the Catacombs of Saint Sebastian, he most famed catacomb sites in Rome
Next, the Aventine Hill awaits us. The Aventine hill is located near the Circus Maximus and hosts a quiet, elegant neighbourhood dotted with villas surrounded by greenery, away from the chaos of the more touristic districts. Do not miss on this hill a visit to the municipal rose garden, a romantic walk in the Orange Garden and a peek from the famous keyhole of the door of Santa Maria del Priorato di Malta, from which you can enjoy a beautiful glimpse of the Basilica of San Peter. After that, we will see from outside the Pyramid of Cestius, the only surviving pyramid in Rome and a testament to the influence of ancient Egyptian culture on the Roman Empire.
We will then visit the Circus Maximus, located between the Aventino and Palatine Hill. This was the largest stadium in ancient Rome built for chariot races.
Also, we will arrive in Piazza della Bocca della Verita, one of the most beautiful squares in Rome. We will discover here the manhole cover in the shape of a mask that, according to tradition, anyone who did not tell the truth by introducing the hand would have been mutilated with a clean cut. Near the Bocca della Verita, we will see one of the smallest but one of the best preserved temples in Rome, Tempio di Portuno. This small temple is a rare surviving example from the Roman Republic.
Located in the city center, between Rome’s ghetto and the Pantheon, Largo di Torre Argentina is our next stop. This square houses an important archaeological area: this is where Julius Caesarmet his fate on the Ides of March of 44 BC!
Moving on with the tour, we will spot Teatro di Marcello, the only theater of the three ones of ancient Rome preserved and still standing. This theater was taken as a model for the construction of the Colosseum.
At the end of our tour, we will stop in Piazza Campo de’ Fiori, one of the main squares of Rome. It is lively both during the day with its flower, fruit, and vegetable market, and by night, when the terraces are packed with people.
The most satisfying part of our tour is that you will discover lesser-known places and you will see the “real Rome”. You will see more than the average visitor, from the famous catacombs to the little hidden gems of the Eternal City. So, if you want to have a unique experience in Rome, take a ride with us in our eco-friendly golf-cart and let’s make you feel like a real local!
