Explore the Colosseum at night! This is one of the most unique tours: The Colosseum Moonlight Tour.
After the gates of the Colosseum are closed to the general public, you can go inside the Colosseum with your licensed tour guide and enjoy the night view of this magnificent structure. Your guide will bring the ancient city back to life, with stories of how Rome once looked, who lived there, what buildings were used for and why these ruins are such an important part of Roman history.
After the daytime crowds are gone, experience a Colosseum night tour with access to the Underground and the Arena Floor, where most visitors are not allowed. The first stop of the tour is the Hypogeum, most known as “The Underground” or “The Dungeons”, used for keeping slaves and wild animals. The Underground featured two levels and an entire network of tunnels.
Explore this behind the scenes area together with your tour guide and witness a model trapdoor, used to lift gladiators and animals up to the Arena Floor – the next stop of the tour. You will travel with an official Colosseum guard, who will open the special gate and reveal the iconic walkway onto the floor. The Arena has one of the most incredible vantage points in the Colosseum, so take your time and enjoy the moment.
