Rome is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. But did you know it is also full of mysteries and legends? Follow us on a wonderful guided walking tour to explore interesting stories about the Eternal City.
Our professional guide will take you to the first stop of your tour, the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli. Located in the Monti district, the oldest district in Rome, its name derives from the fact that inside, the chains with which it is said that St. Peter was held prisoner are kept. This sacred place is home to many artistic wonders, but the one that is certainly the focal point of the visit is Michelangelo’s Moses, the monumental Tomb of Julius II, a marble masterpiece that the artist took a long time to create.
A short distance from the Colosseum, we will find the archaeological complex on which the medieval Basilica of San Clemente stands, brought to light during the excavation work begun at the end of the 1800s. It consists of two superimposed churches, built on Roman buildings of the Republican age and on the remains of a temple of the god Mithras. The interior of the upper basilica, although it has undergone considerable alterations, still retains important elements of the ancient construction: divided into three naves by Roman columns of marble and granite with Ionic capitals, it houses the marvelous mosaic in the apse basin.
The last attraction of our tour is Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano, the cathedral of Rome. It is the mother and head of all the churches of Rome and the world. Founded by Constantine between 313 and 318 with the title of Basilica Sanctissimi Salvatoris, secondarily dedicated to Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, it was destroyed and rebuilt several times. On the left side of the square is the Scala Santa: according to tradition, it would be the same that Jesus went up to the Praetorium of Pontius Pilate, and was brought to Rome by Sant’Elena, mother of the emperor Constantine. In the right corner of Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano is the Baptistery, built by Constantine where, according to a consolidated but not historically reliable tradition, he was baptized by San Silvestro.

So, if you want to discover the history of Christianity along with the mysteries and legends of the Eternal City, we are waiting for you to join our walking tour!
